Seminole County Commissioner Carlton Henley is the Secretary of the Central Florida Commuter Rail Commission and Seminole County's representative on the Board of Directors.

Commissioner Henley has served the citizens of Seminole County as District 4 Commissioner since November, 1998.

Commissoner Henley received his masters and undergraduate degrees from Memphis State University in Tennessee, and was principal of Lyman High School for 31 years. In 1984, he was named Florida Principal of the Year - one of many accolades and honors he has been awarded over the years.

In addition to improving transportation options for all Central Floridians, Commissioner Henley's public service priorities include the implementation of smart growth principles, economic development and the redevelopment of the U.S. Highway 17-92 corridor; identifying and implementing alternative water supplies; and protection of the region's environmental jewels, particularly in rural areas.

Commissioner Henley is a board member of Lynx, the Central Florida public transit agency, and Metroplan Orlando, the region's transportation planning agency. His active participation on additional boards, councils and commissions includes myregion.org, the Regional Leadership Council and numerous education panels.

Commissioner Henley and his wife recently celebrated 50 years of marriage, and have four children, 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
